![]() ![]() ![]() For younger students, please make sure that your student is very familiar with the stop and the surrounding area and can get home from the stop. ![]() Please contact your campus if you need help doing this.We will do all we can to get them on the right bus, but it starts with your student knowing the correct bus and stop. Most campuses have more than one bus, and some have several. It is very important that your child knows the correct bus to get on and where the stop is.You must also use North, South, East, or West if it is part of the correct address. You must enter your address accurately including whether it is street, road, avenue, lane etc. Please begin checking Find My Bus on the website to determine your student's bus number and stop location.Parents, helping your student become familiar with his/her route before the first day of school will help them feel less anxious on the first day of school. Please review your bus routes and transportation guidelines. Sherman ISD will distribute handouts and videos to schools and families each month to explain and help reinforce the positive character traits at home and school. This traits-based, calendar-focused character education program is designed to give students the keys to drive towards greatness. In the 2023-24 school year, Sherman ISD is implementing a character education program called The Bearcat Way. Read more about the use of electronic devices at THE BEARCAT WAY These devices are permitted in the school cafeteria and as needed to support classroom learning, but otherwise should be turned off and put away during the instructional day when not in use for approved purposes. To limit distractions, the district's Off & Off policy is expanding in the 2023-24 school year to include headphones and earbuds. The metal detectors will limit certain prohibited items from being brought on campus. To keep the line moving quickly and efficiently, students should not bring any items to school that they don’t need and inform officers of any objects that may trigger the metal detectors. This will help ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible and students get to class on time. After a successful pilot in the 2022-23 school year, metal detectors will be utilized daily at Sherman High School and Jefferson Learning Center starting with the first day of the 2023-24 school year, and SISD will expand their use at Piner and Sherman middle schools as well. Students who take or request snacks, additional entrees, or extra milk, will be charged for those items. An unlimited number of fresh fruit and vegetables are also free with a complete meal. A free lunch includes a fruit or vegetable and at least two other foods.
